this can be done with Lua, by putting layers in the underlay. themes using this havn't been maintained or usable in a long time, and there doesn't seem to be interest in doing so, so I'm not implementing it in them; ask me if you want info--but there are too many special-case elements in this screen and it's unmanagable.

This is the spec for SaxxonPike's BMA (BeMedia Archive) format, which allows all the files for a keysounded (or any type for that matter) of file to be joined into one file. These will be integrated into the docs later. Forward all questions on this to SaxxonPike.

Due to the last change, we don't have fallback clashes anymore (fallback no
...
longer has both "fallback tap note" and "fallback tap note 4th", etc.), so
we don't need to do this. Remove it; it's extremely slow.

We've been trying to more or less keep note skin compatibility, but the
...
format has gone somewhat out of hand, so let's give up a bit on that for
the good of mankind ...
All note elements that are allowed to be note colored *always* have a note
type in the filename; if XIsNoteColor is off, "4th" is used. This way, we
don't have different sets of filename rules, fixing clashes between skins
and the fallback, and a number of things become simpler (many of which
I'm still discovering, so I won't try to enumerate them here just now).
Note skin updates coming ...
